From May 25th to 26th, 2019, the finals of the 14th National College Students Transportation Technology Contest of "Jinfa Cup" was held at Kunming University of Science and Technology. The work "Multifunctional Asphalt Pavement with Snow Melting, Mitigating the" Urban Heat Island "Effect and Power Generation" directed by Professor Jiang Wei of the School of Highway won the first prize, creating the best result of our college in this competition. Professor Hu Dawei, Director of the Academic Affairs Office, Professor Wang Hainian, and Professor Chen Hong from the School of Highway, met the teachers and students during the competition.
Our team is composed of five students, Wang Jiachen, Zhang Jing, Hu Jianhan, Sun Jiwei, and Ge Xingjian. There are more than 170 colleges and universities participating in the competition this year. A total of 475 works have been submitted. After a preliminary evaluation, 80 works entered the national finals. The finals are divided into four categories: transportation planning and management, transportation information engineering and control, transportation tool application engineering, road and railway engineering, and human-oriented transportation design.
Thirty-five expert judges from universities and transportation industries across the country reviewed the works in terms of creativity, comprehensive application of professional knowledge, use-value, and completion of works. In the end, eight works selected by Changan University, Tongji University, Beijing University of Technology, Southwest Jiaotong University, Hefei University of Technology, Lanzhou Jiaotong University, and Northeast Forestry University won the first prize.
The National College Students Transportation Technology Competition (NACTranS) is a national college student science and technology competition sponsored by the Transportation Engineering Teaching Guidance Sub-Committee with the support of the Ministry of Education Higher Education Transportation Teaching Guidance Committee. The purpose of the competition is to use transportation science and technology issues as a carrier to cultivate the scientific spirit and scientific literacy of college students, the ability to discover and solve problems, and the spirit of teamwork, promote the development of academic activities of college students, strengthen the exchange of science and technology among college students, and promote the development of transportation science and technology.
