On August 24 to 27, 2020, the 24th National Bridge Academic Conference was held in Jinan. The conference was hosted by the Bridge and Structural Engineering Branch of the Chinese Civil Engineering Society, Jinan Urban and Rural Transportation Bureau, Jinan Urban Construction Group Co., Ltd., and undertaken by Jinan Chenglu Construction Engineering Co., Ltd., Jinan Chengfeng Highway Engineering Co., Ltd., and "Bridge" magazine. Professor Zhao Yu, Professor Wang Chunsheng, Professor Zhou Yongjun and Associate Professor Zhu Weiqing from the Institute of Bridge Engineering of our college attended the conference. Professor Zhao Yu and Professor Wang Chunsheng attended the board meeting held during the period.
The conference centered on the theme of "urban bridges, aesthetic landscapes, structural innovations", and nearly 200 experts, scholars, and corporate elite representatives from universities, scientific research institutes, and bridge design, construction, and management companies. Gathering together, they conducted in-depth discussions on bridge innovative design, intelligent construction, bridge wind and earthquake resistance, testing and reinforcement of new materials, and discussed the development and future of Chinese bridges. Academician Deng Wenzhong, Academician Chen Zhengqing, Academician Zheng Jielian, Master Shao Changyu, Professor Ge Yaojun, Chief Engineer Su Quanke, etc. made reports. Prof. Wang Chunsheng gave a keynote speech at the conference entitled "Anti-fatigue Design and Maintenance of Steel Bridges". The holding of the conference is of great significance for tracking the forefront of the development of the bridge discipline, promoting the development of the bridge discipline of our college, and strengthening the connection with domestic key universities and enterprises.
