From November 7th to 10th, 2019, Professor Andrew Dawson, chairman of the US TRB-AFP70 Aggregate Research Committee and Professor of the University of Nottingham, UK, were invited to visit the college to participate in the “International Symposium on Sustainable Infrastructure for Highway Infrastructure” and conducted a series of scientific research and teaching exchange activities.
On November 7, in the second conference room of the College of Highways, a discussion and exchange was held on the work of China and the United Kingdom in students training, scientific research cooperation, and international exchanges. Vice President Wang Jianjun, Innovation Education Center, Road Institute, College Foreign Affairs Secretary and related teachers from the School of Highway participated in the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Liu Yu, director of the Innovation Education Center.
Vice Dean Wang Jianjun delivered a welcoming speech on behalf of the college, and briefly introduced the historical development and achievements of the discipline construction of the School of Highway. Foreign Affairs Secretary Li Peng introduced the relevant situation of the Chang’an University and the School of Highway in personnel training, international cooperation and exchanges. Professor Ma Feng, deputy director of the Institute of Roads, introduced the research direction and latest developments of our school ’s road discipline. Professor Andrew Dawson introduced the history and current situation of the University of Nottingham. Teachers attending the meeting actively conducted in-depth exchanges based on their teaching and research experiences. Through this symposium, the mutual understanding between the Civil Transportation Department of the University of Nottingham and the School of Highway was further deepened, which laid a good foundation for future in-depth cooperation.

At 9 am on November 8th, Professor Andrew Dawson gave an academic report entitled "Investigation of the Permissible Asphalt Overlay Temperature for Opening to Traffic during Pavement Rehabilitation" to the teachers and students of the School of Highway at Transportation Technology Building, and listened to the progress report of the faculty and students of the college, and conducted extensive exchanges with the faculty and students.
