From November 9th to 10th, the “International Symposium on Sustainable Aggregate of Highway Infrastructure” sponsored by Chang’an University was successfully held at the Academic Exchange Center of Chang’an University. More than 200 domestic and foreign experts, scholars, teachers and students from Aachen University of Technology in Germany, University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom, Virginia Tech University in the United States, German Federal Highway Research Institute, Braunschweig University of Technology in Germany, and Changan University, Southeast University, South China University of Technology, Beijing University of Science and Technology, Highway Science Institute of the Ministry of Transportation , Guangdong Poly Changda Highway Engineering Co., Ltd., Fujian Nanfang Pavement Machinery Co., Ltd. participated in the seminar.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Wang Jianwei, Vice President of Chang'an University, delivered a speech on behalf of the organizer. Experts from all over the world and in the field of road aggregates were welcome to focus on the sustainability of road infrastructure construction materials and structures and share the latest achievements in the field of sustainable aggregate, and provide innovative ideas and cutting-edge technologies for enhancing and improving the durability and sustainability of highway infrastructure. Andrew Dawson, a professor at the University of Nottingham, UK, and the chairman of the Aggregate Committee (AFP-70) of the American Transportation Research Association (TRB), said that road infrastructure has higher requirements on aggregate quality and increasing usage requirements, while natural high-quality aggregate resources are decreasing day by day. How to achieve balance and balance between the two has become a general concern in theoretical research and practice.

Symposium
On the morning of November 10th, experts from home and abroad held a round table discussion on the two topics of "Durable Pavement Structure Design" and "Material Properties of Aggregates" in the First Academic Lecture Hall on the sixth floor of the Transportation Technology Building. Afterwards, the experts visited the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education for "Special Area Highway Engineering" in our school.
Roundtable discussion
During the meeting, Chinese and foreign experts shared the latest research results in the field of sustainable aggregates in transportation infrastructure, which triggered active and enthusiastic discussions among participants and provided a precious dialogue platform for promoting exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign scholars.
It is reported that this conference is funded by the Sino-German Science Foundation and co-organized by Changan University and Aachen University of Technology in Germany, and was jointly organized by the Disciplinary Innovation Introductory Base of Higher Schools of "Sustainable Development of Highway Engineering in Special Areas" and the Shaanxi Provincial Highway Society. The chairman of the conference is Professor Wang Hainian of Chang'an University and Professor Markus Oeser of Aachen University of Technology in Germany.
