On January 1, 2019, Professor Su Zhaoming, Associate Professor Zeng Baixing, and Teacher Zeng Mingli, Traffic Police Officer Jiang Bohan, and 23 master graduate students from the Department of Transportation Technology and Management, Fengjia University, Taiwan, came to our school for the second time for a 15-day post-graduate teaching exchange activity. The School of Highway is entrusted by the International Cooperation Office of Chang'an University and is responsible for all matters of exchange activities. Professor Wang Jianjun, Vice Dean of the School of Highway, Professor Wang Yuanqing, Director of the Institute of Transportation and Road Engineering, and Professor Liang Guohua, Deputy Director, has formulated a detailed curriculum teaching plan based on the teaching needs of Fengjia University and the characteristics and advantages of the transportation planning and management discipline of Chang'an University. The specific teaching content includes theoretical teaching and engineering practice cognitive teaching.
The theoretical teaching content of traffic engineering specialty is "Overview of Xi'an Urban Transportation," "Xi'an Urban Transportation Planning," "Xi'an Road Network Planning and Construction", "Xi'an Low-Carbon Transport Planning Concept", "Road Traffic Safety and Organization", and "Road Vehicle Accident Appraisal and Analysis". The instructors are Professor Chen Kuanmin, Professor Chen Hong, Professor Wang Jianjun, Professor Wang Yuanqing, Professor Peng Hui, Professor Liang Guohua, Associate Professor Wang Yonggang, Associate Professor Shao Haipeng, Associate Professor Ma Chaoqun, Associate Professor Li Yan and Associate Professor Zhou Weixin of the School of Automotive Engineering. The teaching content of engineering practice cognition included Chang'an University Automobile Test Field, School History Museum, Transportation Museum, Automobile Museum, Intelligent Traffic Control Laboratory, Highway Engineering Traffic Engineering Laboratory, Chang'an University Automobile Test Field, Xi'an Traffic Police Detachment Intelligent Traffic Command Center, Xi'an High-speed Railway North Passenger Station, Xi'an Metro Operation Company and other engineering practice site visiting. The leading teachers are Professor Chen Hong, Professor Peng Hui, Teacher Wang Baojie, and Teacher Xu Peijuan of the Highway College. The teachers and students of Fengjia University listened carefully to the different content of each lecturer, launched a free-flowing, enthusiastic and active discussion and exchange, and generated a keen interest and yearning for the traffic engineering practice in Xi'an.
On the last day of study and exchange, Professor Liang Guohua, Deputy Director of the Institute of Transportation and Road Engineering of the School of Highway, organized relevant teachers and students to conduct professional interactive discussions with the visiting teachers and students of Fengjia University. At the meeting, the two sides introduced each other's development characteristics and advantages of each discipline. They launched lively exchanges and discussions on cross-strait traffic engineering construction and research-related issues.
After studying and communicating, Secretary Tian Xinmin and Dean Xie Yongli of the School of Highway, teachers, and students of the Institute of Transportation and Road Engineering took a group photo. It is hoped that based on consolidating the existing cooperation, the two sides will further deepen the areas of cooperation, in particular, make breakthroughs in curriculum interaction, exchange of students in scientific research cooperation, and mutual visits of teachers.
The post-graduate teaching activities of the graduates better demonstrated the strength of our school's traffic engineering discipline and further enhanced the professional interaction between the two sides. This event explored a new model for attracting master and undergraduate students of Fengjia University's traffic engineering major to the principal and short-term study, and promoting cooperation and exchange between Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. It also provides new ideas for "going out" of our school-based and master course construction, and also makes a useful attempt for the school on the road of double first-class construction.
