On the morning of August 28, the opening ceremony for 2021 undergraduates of the Highway College was held in the Hongyuan Teaching Building on the North Campus. According to the school's relevant requirements on the prevention and control of the current epidemic situation, the opening ceremony was held in a combination of online and offline methods in the main venue and branch venues. All school leaders, heads of departments, 2021 undergraduate head teachers, counselors at all levels and all 2021 undergraduates attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Liu Xu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the College.
The opening ceremony kicked off in the solemn sound of the national anthem. Dean Chen Jianxun gave a speech first. On behalf of the college, he expressed welcome and congratulations to the 2021 undergraduates. He gave a comprehensive introduction to the school's history and disciplinary advantages. The theme of " Building China’s strength in transportation" described the mission that highway students should take on their own initiative and responsibility. Dean Chen put forward three hopes for 2021 undergraduates: one is to have high ambitions and to accumulate national sentiments; the second is to be good at learning and to seek true talents and learn; the third is to dare take responsibility, fight for the pioneers of the times bravely, and encourage students to grow into promising young people in a new era, leading the development of transportation and building a powerful country in transportation. Teacher representative Bai Hua encouraged 2021 undergraduates to establish lofty ideals, strengthen their ideals and beliefs, cherish university time, enjoy university life, and be a highwayman who can live up to youth, youth, and times. Senior student representative Wu Kai shared his learning experience at school, and hoped that the younger students could cherish the platform provided by the college, have high ambitions, dare to face the hardship, keep your feet on the ground and make continuous progress. Freshman representative Yu Muren stated on behalf of all 2021 undergraduates: we will keep in mind the school motto, be dedicated to the future, and devote our best efforts and full enthusiasm to the future study and life.

Then, the leaders of the college issued a letter of appointment for the 2021 undergraduate class teachers. At the end of the ceremony, Dean Chen Jianxun and Secretary Wang Hainian wore the school badge for the freshmen representatives and took a group photo with them. After the warm applause, the opening ceremony of the 2021 undergraduates of our college came to a successful conclusion.
