2019 full immersion English summer camp of the School of Highway is coming to an end. The summer camp is an essential part of undergraduate education and teaching. It aims to provide a full English learning atmosphere for our students in the 2018 international class and CHD-UCD dual-degree perogram. The school invited English education experts and international student volunteers from the United States, Austria, Mexico, and other countries to undertake teaching tasks. Through the theme-based teaching model, students are encouraged to participate in the teaching process actively, and students are encouraged to improve English listening and to speak communication skills in interactive teaching.
The summer camp is from July 8th to July 21st for a total of two weeks. The event location was located on the fifth floor of the Hongyuan Teaching Building of our school's Weishui Campus and Zhaohui University Student Activity Center. The foreign experts participating in this full immersion English summer camp gave special lectures for each class on different school days according to the situation of different students. Students needed to prepare the topic content in advance and share their results in the classroom as required. Special topics include: about the development history of Xi'an cities, places of interest, special diets, cultural education, etc .; about the relationship between the "Belt and Road" national initiative and the development of road transportation; about China 's reform and opening up and the country 's historical culture, social development, etc.. Through full communication with foreign experts and international volunteers, students have not only improved their oral English and listening skills but also learned how to give keynote speeches, teamwork and understand the cultural background of English. In a fully immersive environment, students were enriched in classroom and extracurricular activities, and their interest in English learning was cultivated.
In addition to the daily teaching sessions in the morning and afternoon, this summer camp also arranges recreational activities such as sports competitions, viewing and communication, and learning to sing English songs. At the end of the summer camp, there would be a report performance prepared by our students, foreign teachers, and volunteers in joint rehearsal.
