On June 8 to June 12, 2020, the College of Highway class of 2017 road bridge and river crossing engineering major carried out a one-week online practice teaching of "Basic Engineering".
With the return of the class of 2017 students, how to carry out internship activities with quality and quantity has become the focus and difficulty in recent teaching work. Many discussions between college leaders and leading teachers, adhering to the principle that the practical teaching link is not divorced from the actual project, finally determined the practical teaching plan of "well-known expert online lectures, online observation of major cases, and live broadcast of typical projects".
"Lectures by well-known experts", an online teaching practice form, can not only enhance students' overall understanding of the major through experts’ introductions to major domestic projects, enhance the ownership and sense of responsibility involved in national construction, and cultivate students’ recognition of the major’s learning A sense of pride and sense of pride can also realize immediate and efficient interaction between students and well-known experts in the industry. To this end, the "Basic Engineering" teaching team of our college invited many well-known experts and outstanding alumni to participate in online practical teaching, including Shao Xinpeng, chief engineer of Qingdao Bay Bridge Construction Command, and Fang Fang, deputy director of the chief engineering office of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Administration Lei, Cao Feng, Deputy Director of the Engineering Design and Research Institute of China Communications Second Highway Engineering Co., Ltd., and Jin Wenliang, Deputy Director of the General Engineering Office of Shenzhen-Zhongzhong Corridor, gave four special reports from well-known alumni. At the same time, many well-known teaching films and documentaries of bridge foundation engineering at home and abroad with complex geological conditions and harsh construction environment were selected for online observation and learning.
Facing the practical problem that students cannot go out, the "Basic Engineering" teaching team of our college creatively proposed the internship form of "typical engineering live broadcast", and presented the engineering practice to students in the form of live broadcast.
On June 9, Zhang Hongguang, a three-person team from the Rock Tunnel Institute, went to the construction site of the Second East Passage Bridge in Xiamen City to step on each site, test and debug the live broadcast network and equipment, and at the same time cooperate with the construction site. Chai Haifeng, general manager of the project department of CCCC Second Aviation Administration, conducted repeated communications and discussions on the content, sequence, duration, and route of the live broadcast. In the afternoon of the same day, the final shooting script including seven scenes was formed. In order to ensure the live broadcast effect on the second day, the professional teachers of the students, the monitors of each class and the technicians of the construction party were organized at the school that night to repeatedly debug the relevant software and determine the recording and monitoring work.
At 9:00 am on June 10th, the live broadcast of the construction site went smoothly as planned. Three teachers of our school and Chief Engineer Zhang Xiaoguang of the Second Navigation Bureau introduced the project overview, construction safety museum experience, electronic sand table demonstration, sea trestle bridge construction, offshore steel protection tube positioning, pile foundation impact formation, sea drilling slag discharge, steel tube concrete composite Various aspects such as pile foundation construction and variable cross-section pile foundation reinforcement cage preparation were explained in detail for the students. During the live broadcast, 434 students in our school were seated in the classrooms of the North Campus. Each class was equipped with professional teachers to organize and answer questions. The students watched attentively, and actively used the barrage to conduct real-time questions and communicate with the on-site teachers and chief engineer. At the same time, the Academic Affairs Office of the college sent relevant links to the faculty group, inviting all the teachers of the college to watch and put forward valuable opinions and suggestions. The teachers and students of the college participated in the live internship together, and the effect greatly exceeded the expected goal.
The internship form of the "Typical Project Live Broadcasting" of "Basic Engineering" is an innovative measure of our college teachers in the practical teaching link during the epidemic period. It aims to allow students to see more major projects and construction sites without leaving home. Their practical experience lays a solid professional foundation for them and provides reference for future work and study. In the future, the college will continue to summarize this experience and shortcomings, so that the practice links of our college will be stable and solid, and will play an active leading role in enhancing professional reputation, promoting the construction of high-quality courses, and helping "double first-class" professional evaluation.
