Chang’an University was approved as the first field scientific observation and research base in the transportation industry

Time:December 7, 2020

The Ministry of Transport released the 2020 list of recognized scientific observation and research bases for the transportation industry. It was led by Professor. Chen Jianxun of the college of highway. It relies on the construction of the College of Highway and Technology, the "Field Scientific Observation and Research Base for the Transportation Industry in Cold Areas Tunnel Meteorology and Structural Mechanics" was selected for the list.

The base is led by Chang'an University and established in conjunction with CCCC First Highway Survey and Design Research Institute Co., Ltd., Jilin Provincial Transportation Research Institute, CCCC Hami Transportation Construction Co., Ltd., and CCCC Second Public Bureau Fourth Engineering Co., Ltd. In view of the different climate, hydrology, geology and other characteristics of the high-altitude and northern high-latitude cold regions in western my country, following the idea of “covering the whole country and network layout”, the model of “one base and multiple sites” is adopted to control meteorology, hydrology, geology, temperature fields, Long-term field tracking observation of the tunnel environment and the service status of the lining structure provides data support for the perfect design theory of tunnel freezing damage prevention, freezing damage treatment and scientific maintenance, and ensures the long-term service performance and operational safety of major tunnel projects.

The field scientific observation and research base is an important part of the national scientific and technological innovation base. The main task is to obtain scientific data through long-term field positioning observations, carry out field scientific experiment research, strengthen the sharing of scientific and technological resources, and provide basic support and conditions for scientific and technological innovation. The "Administrative Measures for Field Scientific Observation and Research Bases in the Transportation Industry" clarifies that the main tasks of field observation bases are to carry out field scientific observations and monitoring, obtain and accumulate field scientific data, test and demonstrate new theories, new technologies, and new equipment, and support basic research and The development of applied basic research; the open and shared services of scientific and technological resources such as scientific research infrastructure, equipment and scientific data.

According to the "Notice of the Ministry of Transport on Announcement of the List of Recognition of Field Scientific Observation and Research Bases in the Transportation Industry in 2020" (Jiao Ke Han [2020] No. 860), a total of 13 field scientific observation and research bases in the transportation industry have been identified in 2020. The successful approval of this base enriches the layout of our school’s transportation science and technology innovation base, helps to improve our school’s tunnel engineering field observation capabilities and research level, promotes scientific and technological demonstration and service capabilities, and fosters and builds a national field scientific observation the station has laid the foundation and provided important assistance for the construction of "Double First Class".
